How far have I come?

Well I must begin today by admitting that I couldn't make myself roll out of bed this morning at the normal time of 5.30am. After a quick text to Rowena whom I train with, which confirmed that she also was still in bed, a decision was made that that's where we would stay! So no visit to the gym for me today - but never fear I will be there with bells on tomorrow morning!

I have my first of the weekly Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) tests that I'll be having for the blog with Di tomorrow. A BIA test is a very easy and quick test that Di can do for you at M1NT. Here's a great explanation I found online;

The BIA test works by sending an extremely weak (and harmless) electric current through your body, about the same as a discharged AA battery. Your body's total weight consists of various "masses", like fat, muscles, bones, and water. Each of these conducts electricity in different ways. By measuring the electric resistance of some of these masses in your body, called "Bioelectrical Impedance", and estimating other masses, the test is able to accurately measure what percentage of your total body weight is made up from each.
The BIA test is painless, only takes a minute to perform, and can be administered repeatedly over time without adverse effects.
So as you can see, by having weekly BIA tests we will all be able to monitor my weekly shifts in muscle %, fat % and the amount of fluids that I am carrying. This is a really cool tool that I have found super helpful since I've joined M1NT.

I would predict that at least 50% of the female (maybe even male) population think the same as I did (and sometimes still find myself doing) in that being healthy and successful in something such as a weight loss/fitness programme it means that your overall weight on the scales should decrease - well that's what all the magazines say right? Well they LIE!!!

As I hope you can see from this picture that was taken in October 2009 (two months after I first joined M1NT) I believe that in comparison to my body shape now I have achieved heaps. The thing is though, that I haven't even cracked the 10kg weight loss mark on the scales! So by getting these broken down stats and figures you really can monitor and understand what is happening to your body.

Before we get tomorrows results I thought that I would show you this picture of me and give you an idea of how far I have come this far;

August 2009 (when I joined M1NT)
Pant Size; 26
Waist measurement; 115cm

May 2010
Pant Size; 18
Waist measurement; 88cm

A long more to achieve yet though, so keep watching :-)
